Something to Tune Into

In order to post this message, I’m wirelessly connecting to the Internet with my laptop. Pretty amazing, when you think about it. I can type my thoughts for the day and instantly share them with people literally all over the world in seconds. Alternatively, I can simply call or FaceTime a friend and have a real-time, face to face conversation, all because of the advances in technology.
Right now, there are millions of bits of information passing in front of you. Radio programs, conversations, television shows, etc., are being transmitted through frequencies that just need the right receiver to be tuned into. Any piece of news, scientific discovery, or information from world history is available to me at any moment if I just get on my mobile internet. Crazy!
Flash back just 200 years, and try telling the average person about these advancements. They will think you’re crazy! Try telling them that you can talk to another person, literally on the other side of the world, in real time, with a small 3″x5″ device in your hands. Your voice goes into a machine, which converts it into data that it then sends to a tower, which sends it to a satellite, which then sends it to another tower, which sends it to the other person’s phone, and it comes out sounding exactly the same. And it happens in less than a couple of seconds. All while there are millions of similar conversations happening simultaneously, and they don’t get mixed up! You will have a very difficult time convincing anyone that this is even possible.

This is what it feels like to explain a relationship with God to skeptics. People sometimes think I’m loony when I tell them about Jesus living inside of me and speaking to me in different ways. They think I’m either lying to myself or that I’m out of my mind!
“The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.” 1 Cor 2:14
But when people receive the Holy Spirit, they are able to “tune into” spiritual things and begin to understand and experience Him for themselves. The Bible comes alive in full living color!
The Bible tells us that spiritual things are “the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.” 1Cor 2:9-13

Do you have the Holy Spirit? Are you able to comprehend spiritual things?
I understand that for many people this is difficult to grasp. But there is a spiritual reality and a vibrant, fulfilling relationship with the God of the universe that is available to all who will come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Foolishness to some, but an everyday reality for many.
